Unrest

2024:

The crack in the world grew the longer

she stared at it.

Infernal hunger it knew no bounds

Sifting through the sands of time

Between what once was yours and now is mine

-A jagged timeline_

Tracing Memories on the clay of her skin.

What knowledge is lost in the chronicles of a human life?

How many moments well-lived does it take

to balance the scales of strife?

Pinpricks of light punctuate

a slate so gray

The glassy darkness gives away

Revealing truths so expensive to unearth

The resulting rebirth

Breaks forth, shatters, never to be put to order.

But before the birth-breaking comes the night.

The night you left (and I knew not until morning)

my spirit sank like a stone

This dimension rent in two

Everything divided into before and after,

then and from now on,

Old and new

And I hadn’t known that burnt sienna skin could be so blue.

Did your Spirit sink too?

Through crashing waters

cold and alone

Buffeted about by what once was “meant to be”

The silent jury has nothing left to see.

Or to the waves were you set free

Like the patron of the deep you once aspired to be?

What evidence can be gained from stories lost?

Pinpricks of light -blips- elbow to shine through

And prove the validity of things they never knew.

Cracks in all that I once believed.
